This page tries to give you an idea of what you may want to add to your shiny new StrongED mode.
Colour words
StrongED can colour words to make text more readable and to make misspelled keywords visible. For this to work StrongED needs to be told which characters these words consist of and a few other things.
Every word which is to be coloured has to be defined and all those words are then grouped. Each group can have a different colour which the user selects in the StrongED mode choices.
StrongED can also recognise comments and mark them with a different colour provided you tell StrongED a few things about how these comments look like.
Add buttons
Using functions you can create new buttons on the StrongED toolbar and add functionality to them. You can also define new menu entries and key-bindings.
Save typing
You can save typing by defining shortcut for the most used expressions. If you type a shortcut into a StrongED window (using your mode) the shortcut will automaticly expand into the full expression.
Name Search expressions
If you keep typing in the same search expressions into the StrongED Search & Replace window (shift-F4) then you should consider creating a Named Search Expression. That way you only need to type in the name of the expression instead of the whole expression.
